CYCLING
NAIROBI TO MOMBASSA - KENYA
Kenya, situated in
East Africa, straddles the equator, sharing her borders with
Tanzania, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan and Uganda. Kenya's
spectacular scenery and popularity as a safari area, stems
from the great rift valley and central highlands, which form
the backbone of the country. As such, several large wildlife
reserves have found their home in Kenya, providing a home to
lions, buffalo, elephant, leopard and the rare black rhino,
not to mention the myriad of birds.
NOTE THAT THIS TOUR
IS NON FIXED DEPARTURE AND REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 4 PEOPLE
DAY 01 – NAIROBI - AMBOSELLI
Depart Nairobi at drive on Mombasa highway for about 2 hours to Emali, from where we will cycle down the road to Loitoktok/Amboseli, and have a chance to meet a local community of Masai. We will have a vehicle back up and you can cycle as you wish. We will set up camp at a Masai Village and spend the evening getting ideas and information on Masai Culture. DAY 02 – AMBOSELLI
After breakfast, start the cycle on the dusty road with great views of Kilimanjaro. W will enjoy a picnic lunch on the way and cycle for about 4 or 5 hours with your guide. Later in the afternoon we will again board the vehicle and drive into Amboseli National Park as one is not allowed to cycle inside National Parks or Game reserves. Evening game drive, dinner and overnight at the campsite or Amboseli Banda's if available. DAY 03 – KIMANA
Early morning game drive and after breakfast drive out of the park and cycle along the way to Kimana area, overnight at a homestead camp. Picnic lunch, dinner and overnight included. DAY 04 – TSAVO
Early morning breakfast and drive via Chyulu to Tsavo West, on the way near Tsavo one can cycle for 2 hours among Giraffe and Zebra and a chance to see Elephants at a close range but our van and driver must be close by. In the afternoon enter the Park and spend the afternoon on game drive. Dinner and overnight at Kamboyo Guest house
DAY 05 – VOI TOWN
After breakfast we will visit the famous Mzima Springs famous for their hippo population and later with picnic lunch drive out of the Park through Makitau Gate where it will be possible to ride for about 4 hours among wildlife via Mwatate Town to Voi Town . We will spend the night in Voi Town in a local Guest house or Hotel. DAY 06 – MOMBASA
After morning breakfast we will drive down to Mombasa. The roads here are quite busy so it is not advisable to cycle but clients may do so if they wish. Arrive Mombasa in the afternoon and drop of at Mombasa Town.
