ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK NEPAL
The Annapurna Himal
lies between the Kali Gandaki and Marsyangdi river valley, forming a
solid, mountain bastion. It spans 40 miles and incorporates twelve
peaks higher than 7000 m. Surrounded by spectacular vista's and
rhododendron forests which give way to bamboo groves, you will
encounter the marvellous culture of the people of the Annapurna region.
ANNAPURNA ITINERARY:
Day 1:
Arrive Kathmandu for your Annapurna Base camp Trek. Transfer to
Hotel.
Day 2:
Guided Sightseeing in Kathmandu and preparations for the Annapurna trek.
Day 3:
Kathmandu to Pokhara. Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Hotel Overnight.
Day 4:
Drive: Pokhara Nayapul and Trek to
Ghorepani (2774m).
We ascend
a steep stone staircase to Ulleri village and on through rhododendron
forests. We eventually arrive at the top of the Ghorepani pass.
Day 5 Ghorepani
- Tatopani
We have a
restful day walking around the giant rhododendrons and taking in the
breathtaking scenery.
Day 6 Tatopani - Chhomrung.
As we drop
down from Tadapani Ghandgung we get magnificent views of the upper
Modi valley. The route then heads upwards toward the village of
Chhomrong, tucked at the very base of Himal Chuli.
Day 7 Chhomrung - Himalaya Hotel
Today begins with a steep descent down a bank of rock and then
through thickets of bamboo at the bottom of the
gorge. We then trek toward the neck of the gorge at
pantheon Barah, and climbs to Himalaya hotel.
Day 8 Annapurna South Base Camp Visit
We follow a broad grassy path and then climb on to the lateral
moraine and down the other side on to the glacier. We walk up the bed of the
glacier to visit Base camp at 4,237m.
Day 9: Machhapuchhre Base Camp or
Annapurna south Glacier basin
(3,858m)
Staying on
the west bank of the Modi, we continue along the path as he Modi follows a
deep cliff to the right. This is the site of Machhapuchhre base camp and one
can either camp here or continue northwest, staying above the glacial
moraine.
Day 10 Annapurna Base Camp - Dovan
After an
hours ascent to Annapurna Base Camp we descend and follow the same route to
a the camp spot at Dovan
Day 11 Dovan - Modi Khola
Today, we
pass an experimental sheep Farm at Khuldi Bikas where and head towards
Chhomorung where the trail continues steeply up stony
steps to Kabre Chautara and on to Modi Khola
Day 12 Modi Khola - Dhampus
We trek
down to Gurung village, and onto Dhampus.
Day 13 Dhampus - Pokhara
Our trek heads via Phedi, to our bus which will take us back to
Pokhara . Hotel i
Day 14: Morning flight to Kathmandu.
