INTO THE HEART OF THE ANNAPURNA

 
The Annapurna Himal lies between the Kali Gandaki and Marsyangdi river valley, forming a solid, mountain bastion. It spans 40 miles and incorporates twelve peaks higher than 7000m. Surrounded by spectacular vistas and rhododendron forests which give way to bamboo groves, you will encounter the marvelous culture of the people of the Annapurna region.

Itinerary

Day-1: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrival and transfer to Hotel.

Day-2: Guided Sightseeing
Full day of guided sightseeing around the Kathmandu Valley.

Day-3: Kathmandu to Pokhara
Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Hotel Overnight.

Day-4: Drive: Pokhara & Nayapul and Trek to Ghorepani (2774m)
We ascend a steep stone staircase to Ulleri village and on through rhododendron forests. We eventually arrive at the top of the Ghorepani pass.

Day-5 Ghorepani - Tatopani.
We have a restful day walking around the giant rhododendrons and taking in the breathtaking scenery.

Day-6 Tatopani - Chhomrung.
As we descend from Tadapani Ghandgung we get magnificent views of the upper Modi valley. The route then heads upwards toward the village of Chhomrong, tucked at the very base of Himal Chuli.

Day-7 Chhomrung - Himalaya Hotel.
Today begins with a steep descent down a bank of rock and then through thickets of bamboo at the bottom of the gorge. We then trek toward the neck of the gorge at pantheon Barah, and climb to Himalaya hotel.

Day-8 Annapurna South Base
We follow a broad grassy path and then climb on to the lateral moraine and down the other side on to the glacier. We walk up the bed of the glacier to visit Base camp at 4,237m.

Day-9: Machhupuchhre Base or Annapurna South Glacier basin (3,858m)
Staying on the west bank of the Modi, we continue along the path as the Modi follows a deep cliff to the right. This is the site of Machhupuchhre base camp and one can either camp here or continue northwest, staying above the glacial moraine.

Day-10: Annapurna Base - Dovan.
After an hours ascent to Annapurna Base Camp we descend and follow the same route to a the camp spot at Dovan

Day-11: Dovan - Modi Khola
Today we pass an experimental sheep Farm at Khuldi Bikas  and head towards Chhomorung where the trail continues steeply up stony steps to Kabre Chautara and on to Modi Khola.

Day-12: Modi Khola - Dhampus.
We trek down to Gurung village, and onto Dhampus.

Day-13: Dhampus - Pokhara.
Our hike heads via Phedi to our bus which will take us back to Pokhara . Hotel

Day-14: Return to Kathmandu
Free Day.

Day-15: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your flight home

Price excludes:
  • International flights, departure taxes and any excess baggage charges.
  • Entry Visa $40
  • Expenses of a personal nature such as bottled drinks, mineral water, laundry, showers etc. and tea, coffee etc at lodges not during meal times
  • Meals while staying at the hotels in Kathmandu (only breakfast is included along with accommodation).
  • Extra expenses and/of additional days caused due to unexpected events  (such a flight delays, porterage because of land slides and other natural events.)
  • Rescue and evacuation
  • Personal medical and travel insurance
  • Tips and Gratitude.
  • Cost for giving up the trek (and any unused portions which are not refundable), additional hotel days in Kathmandu as a result or costs incurred for changing the itinerary, if applicable, extra costs incurred for landslides and delays beyond our control etc.
