Question of the Month
Which route should I take on the Inca trail in Peru?

There are three options that you can take but it depends on your level of fitness etc as to which one you do. The longest is the Salkantay which ultimately joins up with the Inca Trail at the Cusichaca valley. It is 7 days and goes up to higher altitude and often with a lot more adverse weather conditions than the 4 day tour. It is also more remote on the first few days with less people. The main one is the 4 day trail which goes to 4200m and is the most popular of them all. The shortest is a 2 day tour with only really one day of hiking. It starts in the valley below the ruins and is the easiest and shortest to trek to Inti Punku (Sun Gate), the main entrance to the ruins from the Inca Trail side.
