TIBET
TOUR OVERLAND KATHMANDU TO LHASA AND EVEREST BASE
CAMP
After a tour of Kathmandu we head off to Tibet, the rooftop of the world,
with a flight into Lhasa. After a few days of sightseeing, we head off
to see the sacred and ancient sites of Lhasa, capital of Tibet
before flying back across the Himalayas, to Kathmandu.

ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu and
transfer to Hotel.
Day 2: Full day
guided sightseeing inside Kathmandu to the major sites:-
Swayambhunath: One of
world’s most glorious, ancient, enigmatic and the holiest of Buddhist
Chaityas and dates back more than 2000 years. Situated on a hillock
Swayambhunath, literally “the Self-Created or Existent”, is a mosaic of
small stupas and pagoda temple contributed by and time by the succession
of kings and noblemen. The main structure of is made of a solid hemisphere
of brick and clay supporting a lofty conical spire capped by pinnacle of
copper gilt. Painted on the four sides on the base of the spire are the
“All Seeing Eyes” of Lord Buddha. The main features of Swayambhunath in
brief are “The Five Buddha's.”
Bouddhanth: This
colossal Stupa, is one of Nepal’s most unique monuments.
Bouddhanth with all seeing eyes of primordial Adi
Buddha on all the four sides is said to hold the remains of Kasyapa - the Buddha of the
previous time. The Stupa 100 meters in diameter, built on an
octagonal baseand rises to 36 meters including the spire.
Guheshwari: This
is the place where Sati, the
consort of Siva, is said to have immolated herself due to her father’s insult.
Siva stricken with grief, wandered the skies with her corpse as pieces
of her body fell to earth thus creating 51 sacred sites.
Pashupatinath:
This is a two tiered
golden roof temple with silver doors is famous for its superb Newari
architecture. Entrance to the temple
is permitted to “Hindus Only." Pashupati, literally, “Lord of the
Animals.”
Tibet Tour Part
Day 3: Flight Kathmandu to Lhasa
Day 4:
Sightseeing in Lhasa. We
will visit Lhasa's many monasteries and sites, such as the Sera
Monastery, and the Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama. Overnight Hotel.
Day 5: Sightseeing in Lhasa. Overnight Hotel. Today
we will visit the famous Potala Palace, as well as the Drepung
Monastery founded in the 14th century, and once the largest in the
world, with a population of around 10,000 monks.
Day6:
Drive to Gyantse via Norjing Gang Sang glacier, and Yamdrok lake.
Overnight Hotel.
Day
7:
Morning visit to Tashilunpo, and Palkhor Chode monastery. Drive to
Shigatse. Hotel.
Day 8: Drive to Shegar via Sakya Monastery. Hotel.
Day 9: Drive to Rongbuk
Guest House. Today on our
travels, we are rewarded with uninterrupted views stretching from
Makalu to Shishapangma, with clear views of Everest as we turn into
the Rongbuk Valley. Overnight at a Guest House. (68km)
Day 10: Morning excursion
of Everest Base Camp Area. Drive to Old Tingri.
Day 11: Drive to Nyalam.
Hotel.
Day 12: Drive to Zhangmu.
Cross the border, and continue to . Hotel Overnight.
Nepal Again
Day 13: Free day to explore Kathmandu. Hotel Overnight.
Day 14: Final Departure.
