Debra Bouwer -

Company Owner and Tour Consultant

Debra started Nomadic Adventures after 11 years of Lecturing Sociology at University, when she first climbed Kilimanjaro and discovered that this is "her bliss". With a "passion for the peaks," discovering new and exciting destinations, Debra has travelled extensively. Debra is the climber in the group, and trips include seven Kilimanjaro summits, several other treks in East Africa, as well as treks and climbs in the Himalayas and South America

Dr Johan Bouwer -

Medical Consultant

Dr Bouwer has been in Medical Practice for the last 36 years, after qualifying with MBChB (Pret) and then MFGP (Rhod). He is the one that screens all of the pre-climb medical questionnaires that our clients complete.

Tengi Jambu Sherpa

Tenzing is one of our most experienced, knowledgeable Himalayan guides. He also is our top mountain bike guide, holding a personal record for cycling 3200km in 54 days!

 

Nawang Gyalzen Sherpa

Nawang has spent many years guiding people through the Himalaya's. He feels most at home when wielding  an ice axe and fixing rope lines on high col treks

 

Thile Sherpa

Thile is one of our older guides, who has trekked in  Nepal and Tibet for the last 16 years, from the Dhaulagiri to Everest.

 

Gilbert Baguma

Gilbert has been working as a guide in Uganda and Rwanda for 9 years. Prior to that, he studied Mechanical Engineering at Technikon. He has also done several mountain treks in Uganda.

 

Mark Kato

Mark is one of our interpreter guides. Having studied Sports Sciences at University in Cuba, mark is proficient in Spanish

 

Juma Omari

Kilimanjaro mountain guide for the last 18 years and porter for several years before that. He is our top mountain guide, small in stature - big in spirit.

 

Patrick Gathogo

Patrick has been a guide on Mt Kenya for longer than most of us have been trekking and knows every aspect of the mountain. 

 

Pasan - Cook

Pasan is quite comfortable whipping up a storm in a tent in below freezing conditions in the Himalayas.

 

Ankhami - Cook

One of our best rates cooks in the Himalayas, Ankhami will join on a cross Himalayan cycle or on the mountains.

 

Jonny - Cook

Kilimanjaro cook, he is one of the most amiable and friendly cooks we know. 

 

And the important, support staff, Yaks, Yak Handlers, Assistants and Porters without whom, our gear and equipment would never make it from A to B
