Our picture of the month is of the vibrant music of Cuba and our photo series looks at the Holi Festival.

Last month's image gave us a good laugh. We fully expected a bevy of correct  answers but alas, not even one.  No they are not wine pots, or clay pots for grinding wheat or for drinking home brewed people. Nor are they for storing bran or to serve as upturned seats. They are known as the Plain of Jars and there are literally thousands of them and said to date back to the Iron Age (500 BC to AD 500). Research has found them to be related to ancient burials or cremations.

Everest Base Camp Trek: 21 September 2018

Question of the Month
Is there an alternative trek we can take to Machu Picchu that is not as crowded as the Inca Trail?
Yes, it is called the Lares Trek.
The Lares Trek is an off-the-beaten track that begins near the town of Lares, 40 miles north of Cusco and 35 miles south east of Machu Picchu. It is a calmer, three day alternate to the Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu. Also, no permits necessary.
If you have a question you want answered, send it to us. We publish one per month.
